Book Club: “Celebrating a Christ-Centered Easter: Seven Traditions to Lead Us Closer to the Savior”
My Book Club recommendation for April is “Celebrating a Christ-Centered Easter: Seven Traditions to Lead Us Closer to the Savior” by Emily Belle Freeman.
I got this for my family back when it was published because I love how it helped guide me in teaching the real details of Easter to my family.
It’s a book “that focuses on seven different personal experiences with the Lord that took place just before and just after His suffering, sacrifice, and Resurrection. Each of the stories is a personal witness of Jesus’ individualized ministry.”
There is also a Children’s Edition. “This interactive book invites children to get to know various people in Christ’s life during those sacred days and to discover the lessons they learned in the encounters with Him. It encourages children to ask what they might have done if they had been there on the days when Jesus was crucified and resurrected.”
I love taking time to reflect about my Savior during this special spring time we celebrate Easter.
When my life was changed forever because of the choices of someone I loved so much and sacrificed everything for, the pain seemed almost unbearable. I felt that nobody could relate to how I was feeling hurt, ashamed, embarrassed, betrayed, disposable, unloved and abandoned.
It was the Easter holiday after my D-day that as I read this book with my family I knew that Christ had also been betrayed by those He loved and trusted. I knew He had set boundaries that kept him safe. I knew that He was mocked, judged and misunderstood and had to stand in the truth of knowing who He is. I knew He had gone through many hard things and an angel was by His side in one of His most difficult times. I knew His mom wept as she watched Him suffer because of the choices of others. I knew that forgiveness was possible only through Him and my ability to turn it over to God with the faith that He will uphold His own laws. I knew He could perform miracles. I knew He descended below all darkness and knew exactly what it felt like to be me.
How does this time of year help you come closer to a Christ?
He knows you, He love you and you are not alone. I hope you have a wonderful Easter Sunday!
