The One Starfish

My dear friend gave me a starfish charm necklace with this story and I wanted to share because it warmed my heart.
“One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean. Approaching the boy, he asked, “What are you doing?”
The youth replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean. The surf is up and the tide is going out.
If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.” “Son,” the man said, “don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? “You can’t make a difference!” After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it back into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said…
“I made a difference for that one.”
I felt so strongly to share my story and I have felt very vulnerable. I am SO thankful for all the love and support and to know it is helping people heal. My hope was that through this that if I reached “just one” to feel light in the dark I have accomplished my goal. I want to provide helpful resources, be a pillar of strength, remind us God is present in our everyday lives and the Atonement is a gift that we have already been given. That the Atonement is for EVERYONE. We are all broken strong warriors with Godly parents which means we have inherited Godly talents. May we recognize them and use them for good. And because nobody is perfect may we be a little gentler to ourselves and those around us when we are weak or fall.
May we pray to be the answer to others prayers and act on it so we can be each other’s angels on Earth. We never know when we may have made a difference “to that one.”
